First Aid Corps Adopts ShowNearby’s PathFinder and Product Locator Tools
Using Google Maps to Reduce Sudden Cardiac Arrest Deaths
Singapore, 3 December, 2009 – First Aid Corps, a worldwide volunteer coalition, has adopted worldwide location-based content facilitator ShowNearby’s PathFinder and Product Locator tools to reduce sudden cardiac arrest deaths in Singapore. Using Google Maps™, ShowNearby’s PathFinder and Product Locator tools identify locations that house automated external defibrillators (AED) to allow quick access for victims of sudden heart attacks via http://www.firstaidcorps.org/locate-aeds-near-you/.
“We are glad that we could provide ShowNearby’s PathFinder and Product Locator tools to help identify the critical AED points for Singapore. By doing so, and having First Aid Corps create public awareness of such locations, we are lending a hand to ensure fewer deaths resulted from sudden cardiac arrest,” said Douglas Gan, CEO for ShowNearby. “Indirectly, we are helping to connect the community to these life-saving resources.”
ShowNearby’s solutions enable First Aid Corps’ AED search on both mobile and web platforms. For mobile, Android phone users can download ShowNearby PathFinder from the Android Market to locate AED starting today. Product Locator, part of ShowNearby Widgets solution, illustrates AED search online. Aside from identifying AED’s, ShowNearby PathFinder can also allow users to find the nearest commodities such as automated teller machines, bus stops, car parks, Electronic Road Pricing gantries, hotels, petrol stations, restaurants, and others.
